Excursion to mountain hut San Lucio from Zuccone path

The trail starts from the parking area of the cross-country ski track in locality of “ La Spessa”, next to the second bend of the asphalted road that brings to mountain hut  San Lucio (signpost for path n 508: Rif. San Lucio, Loc. Pianone, Pizzo Formico). After about 50 meters we turn to the right taking a very sloping path with several hairpin bends (follow the wooden green-and-white signs to Zuccone – S. Lucio) which leads us to Roccolo Zuccone. This path is very popular for adults and children due to its characteristic wood carvings and wood sculptures, that should be touched with attention because they are very delicate. After this enchanting place we pass the Zuccone barn and, keeping to the left, we come out into the large lawn just below the mountain hut San Lucio. The track of the path crosses the lawn and takes us to the panoramic terrace of the hut. For the return we recommend the same path or the asphalted road that leads to the locality La Spessa.

Curiosity: Once you get in the woods, near Roccolo Zuccone, you will be immersed in a very fabulous place and, at the same time, you will be welcomed by this phrase: “Even trees have a soul”. The surrounding area is full of wooden sculptures carved in woods representing animals, people and thoughts such as “The beauty of plants: the only beings in this Universe that don’t produce noise or waste”.
