Altopiano di Clusone Tour
A 17-kilometre route suitable for the whole family, cycling through cultivated fields and the cool pine forest of Clusone.
Route Description
This tour starts at the terminus of the ValSeriana cycle path in Clusone, at the intersection of Via Bono da Castione and Via Sant’Alessandro. From this point, turn left and, taking great care, proceed counterclockwise towards the underpass that leads to the historic centre. From Piazza Paradiso, head up to the village, keeping to the right. Proceed uphill until you come to Piazza Baradello. Reach the junction on Via Fogaccia, from where you turn right then descend some 200 metres. From here, walk past Palazzo Fogaccia to the next junction, turn left and, at the end of the street, left again. You then come to a pedestrian crossing, which you will need to traverse by getting off your bike. At this point, you are out of the historic city centre and can get back on your bike. From here, take the road to the cemetery. Continue along until you reach the stop sign then turn left onto a road with little traffic. Ride along this road for about 1 kilometre, keeping to the left and straight ahead. When you come to a dirt road, turn left then go along the fields on a tree-lined path, proceeding straight on until you reach the Rovetta sports field. Cross the car park and at the intersection with the provincial road, climb up the cycle/pedestrian path heading south for 300 metres. Then, turn right and proceed straight ahead for 500 metres on a section that is first asphalted before becoming a dirt road that leads to the underpass.
Onto the Cycle Path
Pedal in a southerly direction towards a small church and, once past it, take the downhill cycle track on the left. At the crossroads, after about 200 metres, continue straight ahead until reaching the road, turning right and again heading south, before taking the cycle track until you reach the crossroads. Here, cross over and proceed south to an underpass on the right. Exiting the underpass, turn right and continue for 1.5 kilometres until you reach the locality of La Spessa, where you will come to the La Spessa Pizzeria-Braceria. From here, keeping it to our right, we take the flat road you come to after 20 metres which takes us through the fields. At the end of the straight stretch, turn right and continue to the next crossroads. Turn left then follow alongside the fields for 1 kilometre then, after some bends, you’ll reach a slightly uphill crossroads. From this point, turn left, proceeding on the ValSeriana cycle route towards Bergamo. One passed by the locality of Busgarina and the small lake, cross the bridge on the right to enter the roller skiing track. From here, climb up about 50 metres then go past the picnic area and up to the bridge over the provincial road. Once crossed, proceed uphill then downhill for 1 kilometre.
La Pineta di Clusone
Arriving at the crossroads near the Adventure Park, we turn left then descend to the old kiosk, which we keep to the left as we walk past it for 300 metres on the straight stretch. At the crossroads, turn left and descend for 100 metres, where you turn right at a large meadow. Once you reach the Chiesetta dei Morti Vecchi, continue straight ahead to the Prati Mini athletics track, then straight ahead again to the stop sign. Here, cross the provincial road at the pedestrian crossing on our left. We then proceed to the left and take the cycle track in the same direction again. At the end of the cycle path, we proceed along the side of the road for 100 metres and turn right near the shopping centre. From here, skirt the building, keeping it to the left, proceed along the asphalt road. When you reach the crossroads, turn left and you will be on the final section of the ValSeriana cycle path, from where you will continue in the direction of Clusone, following the signs.
We thus reach the end of the cycle path, concluding the loop and the tour on the plateau. This is a really fun experience for those who want to explore Clusone by bike.
